Matelasse(Rose Quilting)

Matelasse is the French word for quilting.

Using a double weave (Fukureori) technique, in which two pieces of fabric on the front and back are woven together with thread, the difference in shrinkage of the threads creates a bulge, creating a floating ``rose pattern'' similar to sashiko, and the film thread is woven into the fabric, giving it a sparkling and subtle elegance.
