Atelier Pierrot at Kumoricon 2025: Japanese Gothic Lolita Fashion Show & Tea Party Event Report
In October 2025 , Atelier Pierrot represented the Japanese gothic lolita scene in Kumoricon , a major anime and pop culture convention held in Oregon, USA over the Halloween weekend.
I'm Connie, the International Ambassador for Atelier Pierrot, and I had the honor of representing the brand as the main guest at this year's event. Below is our event report and a selection of photos from the tea party and fashion show.
Tea Party & Fashion Show Event Report
Kumoricon is one of the largest conventions in the Pacific Northwest, attracting fans of Japanese fashion, anime, and alternative culture from across the United States. The dark, festive atmosphere of Halloween made it the perfect setting to present gothic lolita fashion to an overseas audience.
For all three days of the convention, we had a sales booth stocked full of ruffles and frills - all our most popular dresses, blouses, skirts and bags, including some items that were sold out online and in Japan. This was also the first time we had our original gothic lolita shoes available at an overseas event.
The local lolita community immediately descended on the booth, and we were shocked to be almost cleaned out of items on the very first day! We were so happy to lol seeita thriving in the US, and loved having the opportunity to also introduce many new people to the fashion. I'm more than happy to advise people on how to get started, and it's always exciting to see people's faces light up when they try on their first lolita coord!
Kumoricon Fashion Show — 11 Gothic Lolita Looks
On the Saturday, we also participated in the Kumoricon Fashion Show , where 11 gothic lolita outfits from our collection were presented on stage.
Each look was carefully selected to showcase the range and depth of our Japanese gothic lolita designs — from classic silhouettes to more dramatic styles suited to the Halloween season. Rich fabrics, dramatic princess sleeves, gathered bustles, structured tailoring, and signature corsets were highlighted under the stage lighting, allowing the designs to fully come to life on the runway.
Below, we introduce each outfit as it appeared in the fashion show.

My personal highlight of the fashion show was the enthusiastic audience response - Japanese lolitas tend to politely and demurely clap each look at our Tokyo fashion shows, but a US audience never holds back from cheering on their friends and favorite looks as they appear!
We were delighted to have our volunteer models represent the diversity of Atelier Pierrot fans, and always encourage everyone to apply to model at events when given the opportunity!
Lolita Panel - A Sneak Peek into the World of Japanese Brand Manufacturing
Not long after the fashion show, we raced over to present a gothic lolita fashion panel. Throughout the weekend, I had been encouraging visitors at the booth to come and watch the panel, but clearly I hadn't needed to promote it so hard! More than 250 people turned up, to a completely packed panel room! I was so surprised, but delighted that people were intrigued to learn more about Japanese brand secrets.
It's times like these that I'm reminded about the global power and popularity of lolita nowadays - 20 years ago, such a packed audience wouldn't have been possible.![]()
Because this was an exclusive sneak peek behind the scenes of manufacturing, there were only very limited photos taken, but I was delighted to be approached the weekend by people throughout telling me how much they enjoyed it! As always, one of people's favorite points was the fact that some of our releases are still made by a small team of old ladies, the same as they were 20 years ago!
I try to make panels that are interesting and informative to both those who have worn the fashion for 20 years, and also those who have only learnt about it recently. If you're at a convention where I'm doing a panel in the future, don't forget to stop by! You may be surprised by what you learn!
Gothic Lolita Tea Party with Overseas Fans
As part of the event, we were the guest of honor at a lolita tea party , creating a space to connect directly with international customers and fans.
Attendees arrived wearing their own lolita fashion coordinates, filling the venue with frills and lace. Over tea and sweets, we chatted about Japanese fashion, styling inspirations, and comparisons of the global lolita community and lolita in Japan.

For the tea party, we gave each attendee a novelty heart-shaped mirror featuring an illustration of Noir Neko, our beloved black cat mascot. Noir Neko was also in attendance himself!

As well as a selection of delicious treats, the tea party organizers had also prepared various spooky games. They were challenging but very fun, and the perfect opportunity to get to know other lolitas in each group.
There were also prizes for best dressed, and I had the honor of selecting the Atelier Pierrot award - the winner was wearing a rare dress made by the old ladies that I had discussed in my lolita panel the day before, and they won our Nocturne Tulle JSK - perfect for styling into future coords. Choosing the Best Dressed Winner is always the task I find most difficult at events, as everyone always pulls out all the stops with their coords for tea parties. It was exciting to see a dress that I'd never actually seen in person before!

Sharing Japanese Gothic Lolita Fashion Overseas
Lolita is Not Dead!
Kumoricon 2025 was not only an opportunity to showcase our designs in the United States, but also a cultural exchange through fashion. Meeting overseas fans and seeing Japanese gothic lolita fashion embraced internationally continues to inspire our creative work and gives insight into what people want to see more of from our brand. From the conversations I had with fans over the Kumoricon weekend and other overseas events, I was able to get approval for our Nonette Gauze JSK to have a plus size version released - preorders close on 12/25, so don't forget to reserve if you want to see more similar plus size releases!
We would like to sincerely thank everyone who attended the tea party, watched the fashion show, and supported us during Kumoricon.
We look forward to meeting the global lolita community again at future overseas events!
